Nerja perches above a spectacular
rugged coastline and is situated on the eastern side of the Costa del Sol
at the limit of the province of Granada.
The town is surrounded by the natural beauty of the National Park area if
Maro-Cerro Gordo with wonderful beaches and hidden coves beneath the backdrop
of the Sierra Almijara and Tejeda mountain range.
Nerja
The region is subtropical and is unique in Europe
having an average temperature of 18 and approx 300 sunny days a year. This
enables a prosperous agricultural growth of tropical trees and plants –
Avocadoes. Mango, Chirimoyas to name but a few.
The main attraction of the old town of Nerja is
the beautiful Balcon De Europe – a palm tree lined square that juts
out to sea and is flanked by pavement cafes and has a definite cosmopolitan
feel favoured by street artistes and musicians alike. At the far end of the
Balcon a circular vantage points enables fantastic views of the sea down below
and along the coastline.
For Golf enthusiasts the nearby Anoreta and Bavaria
de Golf course at Velez Malaga have all the requirements for even the most
experienced of Golfers.
The nearby fishing port of Caleta de Velez Malaga is a great place for marine
activities and also Nerja has specialized centres for water sports and scuba
diving .

A visit to Nerja is not complete without a visit to the
world famous ‘Caves of Nerja’ a large important achealogical

visited monument in Spain.
For those wishing to explore further afield the
area is rich in culture and history and the nearby Moorish villages of Frigiliana
and Maro are only a short distance 4 km from Nerja. Surrounding the area of
fine displays of Moorish mudejar architecture ,and the Axarquia area is rich
in it’s unique cuisine and local wines
